permission for the Removal of CLAY/SILT from the TANK
In 2022, the Tamil Nadu government decided to allow farmers, potters, and the public to take clay, silt, gravel, and savudu from the beds of tanks, channels, and reservoirs for free for agricultural, domestic, and pottery purposes. The decision was made after requests from several interested groups over a period of time. The government also simplified the process by delegating powers from the District Collector to the Tahsildars of the relevant jurisdictions. The Tahsildars can now grant permission within 30 days of the application date
